ANCHOR INTRO:
Kent State students take a step in an international student’s shoes.
TV2’s Lauren Stebelton has the story.

REPORTER OBJECTIVE TRACK:
Being a Golden Flash has its ups and downs, but for international student Jinny Saraf, it’s a dream come true. When the New Delhi, India native entered her senior year of high school, she knew her passion: Fashion Design. Once she learned she wanted to study abroad, it took three months for her application to go through. She shared with me her personal journey.
SUBJECTIVE SOT:
Oh my god, what to do, oh my god, I’m so dead, oh my god I forgot what to say. It was like, I don’t know, what was I doing, I was so nervous. But when he started asking me, I don’t know, something came up and I was full of confidence and everything else, and I just spoke everything what I had to speak. He was like, “Okay fine you are getting the visa. Congratulations. ” I felt like kissing the person. I was like, so happy.”
REPORTER STANDUP: Here I am outside the Governance Chambers where inside, native Kent State students are experiencing the exact same process. Let’s check it out.
REPORTER OBJECTIVE TRACK:
This is ACIREMA Training. The event, held Feb. 10, gave students a taste of how difficult it is to come to America. Students traveled to different stations to acquire documents needed for the application process. If requirements weren’t met, they were rejected. International Student and Scholar Advisor Gyorgi Mihalyi-Jewell says it is a challenging experience for students who decide to go to an American University. I spoke with her about her own passion: helping these students.
SUBJECTIVE SOT:
“I think that this is why our office is here, to make them feel better, to help them to follow the immigration regulations they have to follow, because for an international student to stay in the United States is much harder than just for random students.”
REPORTER OBJECTIVE TRACK:
Throughout this process, students learned being a Golden Flash is even worldwide. For TV2 KSU, I’m Lauren Stebelton.
